Tactical editor
If Caesar was a Lord of Football ...
... he would have spent much of his time in the tactical editor of our game, as training the physical effectiveness of the players is simply not enough. A Lord of Football must learn to give the players the right direction to be effective on the pitch.
Lords of Football is not short of customisation in this particular field. Activating the Tactical Editor, near the main pitch in the training grounds, you will be able to interact with dozens of variables and therefore choose the tactics that are most adapt to your players' skills.
Therefore, it is important to get to know your players first, to understand their individual strenghts and flaws, then you can start choosing the right starting formation. Lords of Football has a comprehensive list of the more commonly used formations (4-2-3-1; 4-4-2 in both the "diamond" and "offensive" and "defensive" variations; 5-3-1, 4-3-3 and so on… you name it, and it's there!), but even with such a wide and varied choice, you are not stuck to the formations we've prepared for you!
You can easlily customise your formation, interacting with your players' positions: just pick and drag a player to reposition him and obtain endless variations to surprise your opponent!
How you decide on your starting formation is, after all, the way your players will start out on the pitch, but what about during the game? What happens during the match when your team has to counter the opponents strategy? The right solution to achieve victory in Lords of Football can determine a lot of behaviours, such as Attacking, Pressing, Passing, Mentality, Tackling and Counter Attack etc. For each of these options you will be able to choose how the team reacts at certain stages of the game.
For instance, you could set your team to attack down the wings, employ a hard pressing game, use short passing and an offensive mentality. You will then be able to see for yourself how this translates on the pitch during the match! Not happy about something, no problem, just correct your team by calling up the tactical editor during the match and make the appropriate corrections. Choose your set-piece taker wisely (corner kicks, free kicks, penalties etc) as in football those actions are often the key to opening the opponent's defence. Don't be shy to experiment, you might find some unexpected solutions that will enhance your teams effectiveness during the match!
Remember that, at the end of the day, it is you that will determine your destiny with your actions and most importantly, your decisions. These are the choices of a Lord of Football!
