The importance of training

The most amazing trait of football is creativity. The ability to imagine a pass, a shot, a tactic that will surprise the opponent and lead the team to a goal. And, of course, the talent to take that thought on to the pitch and make it real! But in modern football, no footballer can afford to rely just on his talent: training is the cornerstone of every victory, it's the foundation on which every footballer builds his effectiveness. Let’s see how in Lords of Football you will be able to obtain the best from your team!

The training ground is rich with opportunities: different training facilities, such as a gymnasium, locker room, three training pitches, a training track and so on. Each one of these facilities are interactive and freely explorable in the game’s brilliant real-time rendered 3D world. What does this mean? Well, from your god-like perspective, you will be able to organize exercises and activities with simple clicks on the mouse, then appoint the footballers to those tasks.

The playing ground: prepare yourself to focus on... everything

But the most important thing is that you can check how the footballers are doing by simply watching them work on the exercises in real time. Build your schedule, set up the exercises in the different training facilities, 'drop' the footballers on the task they need to do and check how they react. Do they approach the exercises in the right way? Do they do what is asked of them? Are they happy about the training or are they about to leave the ground in rage and most importantly, does the exercises improve their qualities?

As you can see, there’s plenty to focus on at the training ground. Physical, technical and tactical aspects are equally important to build a winning team and it's important to know every footballer’s skills and flaws to properly improve the efficiency of the team as a whole.

If one of your forwards is very quick, but he’s not that good in scoring or getting past an opponent, you can set up specific exercises to develop his weakness and make him more effective on the pitch. Just click on the right venue, choose the proper activity and see how the footballer improves his skill.

For instance, a shooting session can help your forwards to be more powerful and precise when it comes to finishing. You can set up the exercise in the main training ground’s pitch and watch the footballers shoot on goal as long as you like (which may not be as long as they like and that's another aspect you will need to be careful of) and their finishing skill may improve. At the same time, you can appoint your goalkeepers to the same exercise to raise their abilities.

So what if your now 'faster-than-light' winger simply is not effective when he has to dribble past a defender and go for a cross? 'Dropping' him in a circuit poles exercise can help him improve in this area so that your forwards can expect a better service from the wings during the match.

Set piece exercises are available as well and these are often the key to unlocking a difficult match, with specific training allowing your footballers to improve their corners, free kicks and penalties, ensuring they are better prepared for the coming matches.

All of the actions that define the effectiveness of every single footballer are matched by several exercises that influence their skills, but that’s not all. The training ground will offer other ways to develop your footballers abilities and confidence, such as 'tactical lessons' in the locker room, where you can build on 'leadership' and 'team work', or work out in the gymnasium to make sure they are physically fit.

You will have total control of your footballers, treat them well, focus on their skills, needs and moods to ensure they will become clay in your hands! Keep an eye on their actions to ensure everybody sticks to your plan. Move freely between the various venues available in the training ground to discover all the amazing activities that Lords of Football has in store for you.

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? And this is just one of the duties you will need to perform to become a Lord of Football!
